VAT rise (oh no!)…

Published by in Politico on December 29th, 2010

The current wave of panic (short of a swine flu pandemic…), is that we are about to be hit by a 2.5% increase in VAT and the doom-and-gloom merchants (that’s the mainstream media to you), are out in force pressing home how much the VAT rise will cause the poor to lose. The Telegraph, quick out of the blocks reckon £158 extra a year (£14 rounded up a month) and they set off the scaremongering with the fact that people will cut back on their food to subsidize their luxury goods (broadband, sky, mobile phones etc). I think there is something wrong with society that they will think about a shiny iPhone contract ahead of the food on their child’s plate. I looked at my shopping bill for last week and the week before, the VAT I paid for a

Bookstart to go

I’d never even heard of it, why are we giving books to people for their children? Surely they can get a book from the library? Or are these left approved books?

Why do the Left hate Sky News?

Published by in Politico on December 22nd, 2010

This was a question posed on R5 breakfast radio. The word that popped into my head was ‘Control’. It is without a shadow of a doubt that the left love to control people, even now that they are in opposition, they are still trying to foist their agenda on us through more control. Oh my Liberal MP with Liberal views shocker!

Published by in Politico on December 22nd, 2010

I find it hardly surprising that the media are getting their claws into the Lib Dems, they seem to be the punch bag at the moment as the Tories seem to be keeping their noses clean and the economy isn’t tanking as they all predicted. It’s hardly surprising that some Liberal MPs are not to happy with some of the draconian changes they are being forced to implement. What I find a disgrace is the papers and tv media’s outcry because an MP dared to say what was on his mind. MPs will no doubt return to saying the opposite or avoiding the questions from next week… http://bit.ly/ih2e8N

What ever happened to responsible parenting? Is it really necessary for the government to take over control of everyone’s life to such a degree… http://bit.ly/ggiZDw

Bob Ainsworth – Prohibition doesn’t work…

Published by in Politico on December 16th, 2010

With 13 years in the government, Bob Ainsworth must have gone through it in a drug fuelled haze, because it is only now when he is in opposition that he tries to push for the legalisation of drugs like cocaine & heroin. As an ex-drugs minister I find it astounding that only now can he stand up when he has no power and speak his mind about this situation that we find ourselves in and to my mind he still has it completely wrong on all counts. Having listened to Nicky Cambell give him the rub down on 5 Live this morning and the kicking he got on BBC Breakfast at the hands of an expert, I find it quite amusing that he hasn’t yet slunk away back to his constituency to lick his wounds. Anyone with half a brain
